Dates for our Seniors 2014 International Trials have now been released. There will be 2 Trial days, the first in the 147 Club, Omagh and the second in the Primacy, Bangor. These Trials help to select our squads for 2014 International events.
To enter players should be available to travel to either or both the European Championships from 26th April to 1st May 2014 in Bridlington and either the World Championship or Nations Cup later on in the year, dates and venues TBC

PLAYERS CAN ONLY ENTER ONE CATEGORY OF TRIALS
To be considered for selection, players must play in 50% of the maximum frames (Pyramid System) available over the 2 days of play. The exception to this is the NI Seniors Individual Champion for 2013/4 and any Managers wild cards.

When - Sunday 15th December 2013 (Trial 1)

Time - Registration closes at 10.15am (Roll call of registered players at
10.15am and only players present will be able to play in all rounds of
1st Pyramid. Any player registering after the roll call will be
permitted to join in a pyramid at the start of the next round of matches
in that pyramid, after their registration.
Who - Open to anyone over 40 on 1/1/14 who is eligible to represent NI at Blackball
Cost - £20 affiliated, £30 unaffiliated.
Selection -Top 6 players after both trials guaranteed a place in one of our International Seniors Teams.

The
‘A’ team manager (5 man team) must invite the Trials Winner and at least 1 other from the top 6,
plus offer a selection spot to the NI Seniors Champion. The rest of his team must come from the trials except for 2 wild cards
The
B1 team manager (5 man team) must select at least 2 from any remaining
players in the top 6. The rest of his team must come from the trials
except for 2 wild cards
The B2 team manager (5 man team) must select any remaining top 6 players.
The rest of his squad must first be selected from players who attended at least 50% of the trials (Pyramids) and are deemed to be of International or potential International standard by the Seniors team Managers. After that he can select wild cards.
If a player/players who were selected to go to the 1st Competition in 2014 (ie European Championships in Bridlington) are unable to go to the 2nd Competition (ie WCs or Nations Cup, venue TBC) then managers can select extra corresponding wild cards if they so wish.The rest of his squad must first be selected from players who attended at least 50% of the trials (Pyramids) and are deemed to be of International or potential International standard by the Seniors team Managers. After that he can select wild cards.
Any player who turns down a Managers invitation after being asked to play for a Team in accordance with the NIPA selection process, makes him/herself illegible to play for any other NIPA team. Managers can use their discretion on this issue.
A "Player Manager" must also qualify in accordance with the Trials system.
And its congratulations to North Down's Darren Sterrett who was top of the pile after scoring very consistently over the 2 days of Pool. Darren scored 29/36 to finish level with Sam Newell (29/40) and went on to win the ensuing play off 2-1. Coleraine's Billy Moore was only one frame behind on 28 points.
Seniors Team Managers Darren Sterrett (A), Ian Wylie (B1) and Davy Montgomery (B2) will be busy over the next few days selecting their 2014 squads. Any player out of the top 6 who travels with a Seniors team to the European Championships in Bridlington will receive a travel subsidy. Darren also wins £50 extra towards his trip.
