Kingfisher win the Shooters 6's Summer Competition

The Kingfisher Select (pictured right) have won the Shooters Summer 6s Pool Tournament. On finals night in the Bangor venue, Darren Sterrett's team turned on the style with top drawer pool to take the top prize of £1000. In a tough Semi Final draw, they sat at 1-1 against Shooters Select, but a splendid break and dish from Sterrett himself gave them a 2-1 lead and the impetus to go on and close out the match at 5-1. In the other Semi, huge underdogs ABI led 3-1 and 4-3 against Castle Select but just couldn't get over the line and fell 5-4. But huge credit to ABI for their performance in this match and in reaching the Semi Finals. In the final great finishes from Lee Hull, Neil McKelvey and Jason Heffron along with another break and dish from Sterrett, put the Kingfisher lads in a commanding 4-0 lead. But a win for Andy Arbuthnot and a pinpoint Darren Whiteside positional finish gave Castle momentum, only for Marc Hutchinson and Lee Hull to win the first doubles match to give Kingfisher the victory.

In the Plate Competition, Ball Shooters (pictured right), took the honours by beating the CD Club 5-4 in a nail biting final. Captain Alex Irwin sunk the final black at 1:00 in the morning to bring the 2011 Competition to a close.

After winning a play off against Tom McCorry, Castle's Dee Irwin (pictured right, below) took the honours for Player of the Tournament.
