Congratulations to Stephen Johnston. The Lisburn cueist is the new 2017 Northern Ireland Masters (over 50s) Individual Champion. The event was held in the Q.Club, Larne on Saturday 18th March and in the Final Johnston just got the better of Coleraine's Willie Eakin by the odd frame in eleven. Eakin led 5-2 and was odds on to win the title but Johnston's never say die attitude won through in a fantastic match. Both men had came through their respective Semi Finals by the same 6-5 scoreline, Johnston against Gerry McCorry and Eakin against Marty Goudie in a match of extremely high quality Blackball Pool in which eight frames out of the eleven were either break and dishes or dishes from a dry break.
