What another fantastic day in the Nortel Social Club, Newtownabbey as 10 Leagues battled it out to become NIPA 2014 Interleague Champions. The event hosted by Carrick & District Pool League was full of drama and excitement from start to finish. But when the last ball was potted, it was Damian Corrigan's Omagh lads who successfully defended the title that they won for the first time last year and they headed back down the M1 to Tyrone with the coveted Shield. But at one stage in their 2nd group game it looked as if they were heading out, they trailed Ballyclare 2-10 but remarkably stormed back to force the match into a play off frame at 11-11. Ronan Fay held his nerve to take Omagh into the Semi Finals. A big well done also to North Down and Ards on reaching the final, coming out of a very hard group as underdogs against Coleraine and hosts Carrick. Darren Sterrett's team trailed 2-7 to Omagh in the final before bringing it back to 10-10, but alas Omagh regrouped and it was Captain Mark Stockton who sent his players wild with delight potting the final black of the 2014 Competition.Congratulations to Larne too. The East Antrim League stormed to victory in the Plate Event beating newcomers Ballynahinch 6-5, Carrick 6-0 and Ballyclare in the Final 12-5.
